Finding Faith

Hey Youth,

As kids everything we were told, we trusted with no doubt in our minds. As we start to mature, some things don’t change, like our core values, but somethings, we can start to question. Is God actually real? why am I here? Who am I suppose to be? This might seem like a bad thing, but its not, This is where faith comes in, which is one of the most important things you can ever have. When we ask these kinds of questions, your not saying, I don’t believe in God anymore, you’re stepping away from assuming that your parents or friends are right, and you start actually believing and choosing to have faith that he’s real, even if we can’t see him. In John 20:29, Jesus says, “Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” This tells us, we shouldn’t need proof that he exists to believe, because where does faith come in to that? By having our doubts, we’re really strengthening our faith, as well as our relationship with God

So, why are we suppose to care about having faith? Isn’t it just easier to not question things, or give up? Yes. It is. But the easiest thing to do, isn’t always the best thing to do. I have found there is one major recurring theme in the Bible. Can you guess what it is? Yep, faith. In every single bible story you were told as a kid, or have read, has faith. I’m not talking about a little, yeah, I guess God will help me through this, I’m talking about major what everyone else says is impossible kind of faith. Abraham was promised a son, and had a kid, when he was one hundred! Moses was told he was to free the Israelites from slavery, and did so, with a bunch of plagues followed by parting a whole sea! That didn’t happen by accident, they had to have faith that God would deliver on his promise. The best part? These guys weren’t perfect! They weren’t perfect, they made mistakes, but because they had faith, they got things God promised them. Now you may not be parting the seas, but that doesn’t mean faith can’t work the same way for us-
